I was responsible for promoting the Playboy comedy tour that took place every weekend at the Palms Hotel's martini lounge. My job was to handle all aspects of the promotions, including billboards, text message advertising, print advertising, magazines, newspapers, and guest appearances on FM radio shows in the area. This weekly show featured comedians from different parts of the country, and it ran for three years before it was renewed until the lounge was closed.
We made sure that the comedians had a place to stay, usually in an adjacent hotel or casino, and we also invited the monthly Playboy Playmate to attend and sign autographs for the attendees. The show would start with the playmate being the butt of the jokes, followed by the main headliner's appearance. To increase attendance, we used proximity beacons to invite people via text message or soft message on their phones as they entered the property. As the show was nearing its start time, we sent personalized video invitations from the comedians to encourage attendees to come out and enjoy the show. The personal approach was successful in attracting a lot of people, and they were excited to attend knowing that they had received a personal invitation. |
