I completed a proof of concept project called the Baby Mellow Project.
​The goal of this project was to demonstrate how music artists can effectively advertise their work using YouTube skip ads. To achieve this, I chose an established artist named Grady Harrell and rebranded him as Baby Mellow, a name that was unknown to the public.
Initially, Baby Mellow had no views or following, but within a few days of launching the campaign, we were able to accumulate thousands of views by strategically using skip ads in front of videos featuring similar-sounding or similar-interest artists, such as Bad Bunny, Chris Brown, Prince, and Michael Jackson. The proof of concept was to show that even artists with no following could build a significant following by using YouTube skip ads, which are relatively cheap.
To make the project more appealing, we created two high-quality videos that included a cameo from celebrity Larry McCoy. This project also demonstrated that skip ads can be used for various types of promotions, not just for advertising music artists.
